AM-VR2 Carnaithian S/ASF overview
The best-known Carnaithian fixed-wing military craft is the AM-VR2, an exo-atmospheric superiority fighter combining high mobility and a heavy punch, this craft is hard to categorize in a general sweep due to it's differing performance in-atmosphere and in space. However in both it is somewhat a glass cannon, as it is utterly deadly against other craft until it's pilot makes a mistake, and this is exponentially so as the maneuverability of the craft is effected massively when fighting in-atmosphere where it's thrusters can't be used as effectively.
Offense:
Armed with 4x 20mm cannon and a 40mm autocannon, the AM-VR2 is extremely deadly when it is able to get enemy craft in it's sights, however when in-atmosphere it is more reliant on it's munitions bay with up to 12x high-performance missiles to take out hostile craft it is likely to overshoot.
Defense:
Thinly armored, not much is to be said of the AM-VR2's defense other than a very, very light shield meant to defend against common radiation and micrometeorites and a strong airframe as well as a standard selection of chaff and flares.
Electronic:
With a simple AI on board and the possibility of mounting an ECM pod, the AM-VR2's electronic capabilities aren't lacking, capable of soft-killing 'dumb' missiles and creating a false signature as well as 'flicker' signals.
Mobility:
The mobility of the AM-VR2 is excellent with high scores in both speed and maneuverability, which three engines and multiple maneuvering thrusters serving to make the AM-VR2 excellent at dogfighting in space, however when in-atmosphere, the craft suffers from the thrusters being limited in their capability in order to not damage the frame and limited wing length and control surfaces, further limiting the craft due to a high speed limit and long surface runways being needed to RTB on the surface.
