Sandlion MUV variants

The Sandlion-class Multipurpose Utility Vehicle(MUV) is the most common wheeled vehicle in the Carnaithian arsenal, and with almost every utility, patrol, and light transport vehicle derived from it. The model is well-rounded, and very modular, enabling it to be changed in an FOB's motor pool with different parts to create any combination of modules to fit the job, with near-endless possibilities.

The mobility of the Sandlion-class vehicles vary on the specific modifications made to it, however with a powerful, and resource-friendly solid-fuel solaris/liquid diesel hybrid engine, the Sandlion is capable of reaching a maximum eighty-three miles an hour on-road, and averages out at forty miles an hour off-road, with ten miles an hour in reverse. Armament can vary from nothing to a 120mm recoilless rifle, and defensive measures are similar, varying from no add-on defenses to a full urban warfare package, but always with the bare minimum of a thirty-five millimeter thick composite armor shell surrounding the flanks and front of the engine, between the engine and dash, and covering the rear and sides of the cab. The doors, if kept on, are also thick with armor, and the explosive-resistant underside along with bulletproof polymer for windows and lined tires keep the occupying troops and/or equipment safe. Finally, electronics are a must in a well-coordinated military. With an encrypted data core at the heart of the primary navigation and communications center connected to a HUD for the driver as well as the passenger, the Sandlion is easily kept up-to-date with a simple software update at the motor pool.

Variants displayed here are only regulated models, many more configurations are possible with any sort of equipment, be it within the imperial military or exported.

Transport(first column)

Logistics transport bed: A must for any military's logistical needs, this is a simple tarp-covered hauler for transporting anything, including but not limited to men, food, parts, fuel, ammo, tools, and weapons.

Base model /w/ extended bed: The factory-fresh model with no add-ons other than a long bed. Usually used for transporting men around a home base or training camp.

Base model /w/ standard bed: The factory-fresh model with no add-ons at all. Usually not seen, however when it is it usually involves a shore leave or quick drive between bases.

Combat(second column)

Combat exposure package: Transport: An up-armed and armored variant of the extended bed model, this vehicle is built for business in hostile territory, and can be armed with any weapon from a light machine gun to a light railgun.

Short-range combat shuttle: A simple enclosed variant of the extended bed model, the name says it all; it's used for ferrying troops from point A to point B.

Fire support vehicle: One of the more advanced variants, the FSV has a crew of four; Driver, gunner(in the passenger seat), and two loaders/lookouts. While capable of operating with only three men, four is usually used so that two fireteams are capable of being formed in the case of a bailout. Able to be armed with a wide array of weaponry(most commonly an ATGM or 120mm electro-thermal chemical recoilless rifle, both displayed), the onboard computer can automatically adjust targeting systems to any attached weapon built to fit with its' hardpoint. Also included is a telescoping recon optic, capable of extending to a maximum length of five meters, and an ammo box occupying the starboard side of the rear cab, easily accessed by outside seating.

Surface-to-air missile launcher: Carrying four ramjet-equipped missiles for short-to-medium range use against gunships and attackers, the onboard computer of this variant is capable of linking with central IADS control, providing simple, gap-filling solutions in an under-attack defensive line.

Combat exposure package: Patrol: Up-armored variant of the standard model, used for patrol duties in the combat zone. Capable of equipping the same weapons as the transport variant.

Support(third column)

Ambulance: The ambulance variant is simple on the outside, but on the inside carries four litters, all with individual overhead medecine and equipment containers along with monitors, along with any other tools required to save mens' lives. In an emergency, four mor outboard litters can be installed for evacuation purposes.

Communications control vehicle: usually a small island hop point in a wide communications network, the Sandlion CCV model is equipped with an air-conditioned two-man cabin in the rear where the equipment can be monitored and tuned, with a simple communications algorithm providing much-needed assistance to the men onboard.

My newest iteration of the Sandlion IT/SV, now MUV. I'm going to be honest and say that I directly referenced a lot of dimensions from 's Razorback( blastwaves.deviantart.com/art/… ), but only because I was utterly unable to draw it without direct reference to another sprite, and since I look up to him so much, I decided to scour his gallery. I can't call this entirely mine without crediting him.
